CONTINUING EDUCATION for MASSAGE THERAPISTS
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Up until I retired from classroom teaching in 2014 I had taught at the Tennessee Insitutute of Healing Arts (TIHA), the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), and Miller-Motte Technical College at Chattanooga (MMTC). At TIHA I started their part-time program. At TCAT I started their 1290 clock hour program and was the senior instructor. At MMTC (940 clock hour program) I started the massage therapy program and was the program director for many years. I have been teaching continuing education courses for about 15 years.
As a massage therapist I also maintain a private practice performing bodywork using many different modalities including: Swedish massage, neuromuscular therapy (NMT), myofascial release, trigger point therapy, acupressure, Shiatsu, deep tissue and energy work (primarily Reiki). Normally my massage includes parts of all of these modalities modified and blended for the unique needs of each client.
BRIEF COURSE OVERVIEW
The State of Tennessee Massage Licensure Board has approved me to teach Tennessee Massage Law. The courses Fascial Based Medical Massage and Advanced Stretching for Sports and Medical Massage are both new in 2020.
The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) has approved me to teach all of my courses except Tennessee Massage Law which the Tennessee Massage Board has approved.
Prior to bodywork I was an engineer for about 25 years. The organization and planning I had as an engineer is reflected in my courses. Evaluation scores of 9-10 are generally received based on an evaluation scale of 1-10. More detailed course information, location, cost, etc. are all provided elsewhere on this site.
COURSE LOCATION
Through the end of 2019 all courses were taught at the Serenity Spa, MMTC in Chattanooga, 6397 Lee Highway, Suite 100, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Starting in late January 2020 I added another venue for classes: Jillian's Healing Arts Center, 106-B Jane Manor Circle, Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee. This venue allows me to offer courses at times other than weekends (e.g. Monday).
Beginning 2022 the Massage Institute of Cleveland, 201 Keith St. #56, Cleveland, Tennessee will also host my CE classes.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS, SCHEDULES, LOCATION AND COSTS
Course schedules are periodically updated on this site as they become known. Usually this is at least six months in advance. More detailed course descriptions, schedules and costs are located within this website.
I hope you will find your experience in taking a class from me to be rewarding and well worth you time and effort. I hope to see you in a class soon!
Whether taking a class or receiving a massage service, it would be my pleasure to work with you.
